Making Posts Printer Friendly [Video]

Have you tried printing your posts, using the WordPress standard print sharing service? I have, and didn’t care much for the outcome. Or perhaps you’re wondering, “Why would I (or anyone else) want to print my posts?”

First things first.

Well, I stumbled on a great service: Print Friendly, at Which creates a great PDF format of your post. It’s extremely easy to use. And the end result is great, because it cuts out all the extra things like comments, sidebar, etc. It just prints the article, with or without the images.

Next: Why would we, or someone else, want to print our articles?

Well, it was my husband who started my search for a better print option. He wanted to have the posts in pdf form, but was never pleased with the results. Until I ran across Print Friendly’s blog.

But it’s not only my hubby who likes printing out posts. Many people just like having them readily available for later reading. Or they like printing recipes to try. But I like what ProBlogger has to say about making our blogs print-friendly.

“It’s the hallmark of a good designer to not assume how someone will want to digest what you have to offer, and it’s so easy to make your blog print-friendly that there is really no reason not to.”

He goes on to say that we might be surprised how many people will choose to print articles they find useful, to read when they’re not close to a computer.

So take a moment to watch Print Friendly’s video. You’ll be surprised at how quick and easy it is to do. And at how great both printed pages and pdfs come out!

Plus you can see it for yourself right now! Scroll to the bottom of this post and find the sharing options. Click on the printer button, watch the magic, and then have fun trying it on your own blog!

  1. I have often thought it would be nice to move my posts to a print friendly format just for me to have available for giving devos or for adding to for speaking engagements. I never wanted to go through all the work, but this sounds great. Thank you, Sheila! I’m going to check it out. Love and prayers!!

  2. Thank you for the tip, Sheila, and the helpful video explaining how to use Print Friendly. I’ve usually cut & paste into Word, then deleted all the excess before printing. This website might be a faster and easier process. I’ll be giving it a try!
