You Can Know God Personally

Would you like to know God, but don’t know how? It’s really not complicated. He loves you and longs to have a relationship with you, so he has already made the way!

1. God has already made the way

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16 WEB

God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.

Jesus said… ‘I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.’

John 10:10 WEB

2. But sin has separated us from God.

We have strayed from God, sinning and refusing to follow his ways, causing us to be separated from him.

For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23 WEB

3. So God sent Jesus to save us from sin.

But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8 WEB

There is nothing any of us can do to remove our sin or earn forgiveness of our sin and salvation. Only Christ, by dying on the cross, could pay the penalty for our sin and remove it from us. So God sent Christ to save us from our sin and open the way for us to return to our heavenly Father.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB

4. Christ knocks at the door of each heart.

Christ desires the salvation of each and every person so they can eternally live with him in heaven – So he stands knocking at the door of every heart, including yours,

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.

Revelation 3:20 WEB

5. And he now awaits us in heaven.

Christ arose from the tomb and death and now awaits us in heaven, where he is preparing a place for us.

In my Father’s house are many homes. If it weren’t so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also.

John 14:2-3 WEB

6. But first we must each answer his call.

We must answer his call to repent of our sins and in faith receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior.

Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Romans 10:13 WEB

7. Then God makes us his children and we begin a new and exciting life in him.

But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name. John 1:12 WEB

We experience a new birth in Christ. And are born again spiritually into a life of meaning and purpose as his children.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB

8. And that is the start of life’s greatest adventure!

The adventure of walking with God, learning to know him, and becoming more like him. God calls us to grow through prayer, Bible reading, Scripture meditation, and by connecting with other believers in a Bible-believing church.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:18 WEB

You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11 WEB

So ask Christ into your heart and life today.

You can receive him as your personal Savior by praying to him in faith and with sincerity. Why not pray the following prayer (putting it into your own words) right now?

You will become a new creation in Christ, ready to grow in your new relationship and to experience his abundant life.

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner in need of you. I am ready to turn from my sin and receive you into my heart and life. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and thank you for doing it. Please forgive me for my sins and make me into a new person. Please come into my life, take control of it, help me to follow you, and make me into the kind of person you want me to be.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
